Do you ever feel like because you are a creative that there are no great e-Course options for your business?
Perhaps you feel like the only e-Courses that are successful are in the health and wellness or business arena?
Or maybe you just don’t see how your creative skills can translate to something that people would want to learn from you?
Well, think again! I’m here to show you that your business is PERFECT for a leveraged e-Course model!
There are a number of reasons why e-Courses on creative topics are great and here are three ways they can be applied:
1. Hobby/Pastime e-Courses:
Firstly if you have skills such as writing, drawing, painting or other art skills this is perfect for a hobby based e-Course. In other words, an e-Course that people can do from the comfort and privacy of their own home to develop a hobby for themselves. They might have always wanted to write a book, improve their photography or paint and you can show them how and also provide an online community to support them.
2. Business e-Courses:
If you are a creative with skills that can be applied to the business market then you can easily create an e-Course that teaches people to DIY activities like copywriting, graphic or web design in their business. Some people may not have the funds to outsource these activities or they just want to do it themselves but with some professional guidance.
3. Career change e-Courses:
There is a whole market out there of people who want to make a complete career change and learn a new skill that they can make money from by freelancing or setting up their own business. You can provide them with these skills and guidance through an online training program. This especially suits courses on topics such as photography, web design, graphic design and writing of any sort.
Now let’s take a look at some examples of creatives, other than Jess of-course, who are killing it with e-Courses!
One of my first clients in the e-Course Launch Formula Louise Glendon has built a thriving e-Course business over the last few years. Louise was a premium boudoir photographer and took her photography skills and created the wildly successful Click Love Grow which teaches everyday people to use their SLR cameras. She has now expanded into a range of other photography e-Courses.
Nicola Newman has created a beautiful painting e-Course called Flourish with Painting for people who want to learn how to paint from the comfort of their own home.
Amanda Genther is an exquisite graphic and web designer and she has created a DIY sales page course that teaches business owners how to create their own beautiful sales pages for their offerings.
Here are a few more examples of how to package up creative skills into e-Courses
- Are you a copywriter or creative writer? You could teach people how to write a book, write blogs or write their website copy.
- Are you a graphic designer? You could teach people how to come up with a great design brief or mood board before working with a designer.
So you see there are lots of examples of creatives who have taken the skill set that they deliver 1:1 and either turned that directly into an e-Course or re-engineered it into a concept that they can teach online.
So what questions should you ask yourself when trying to come up with YOUR e-Course idea?
1. What do my clients and customers ask me for? Perhaps there is a product or service that you don’t really want to provide 1:1 that you could package into an online training program?
2. How can I translate my skills into something people want to learn? For example, Louise didn’t go and teach Boudoir Photography but she did realise that her core skill of photography was something that people wanted to learn about.
But remember don’t create an e-Course just because you think it will make money. Dig deep and ask yourself ‘what am I called to create and deliver’?
